Adek Hurwicz death certificate, August 4, 1981.
Adek‘s death certificate, shown below, gives Shavlany (Šaulėnai), Lithuania, as the birthplace of his father, Max. I had thought that Max was born in Kovno (Kaunas), Lithuania, but I suspect Kovno was just the nearest name that people were likely to recognize.

On the other hand, Sol Kotzin, who was Moritz’s son, thought that both Max and Moritz had been born in a different town (Rosein? or Roscin?) near Kovno. I have been unable to find such a town on the map.
